The origins of Acqua Fiuggi

The origins of Acqua Fiuggi
You choose it at the supermarket, take it home, and put it on the table. Acqua Fiuggi Everyday is now a part of your simple and familiar daily routines.
Yet, before it reaches your hands, there is a story worth telling. What from the outside may seem like a standard bottling process is, for us, a rigorous preservation procedure. It is a combination of choices, cutting-edge technologies, and meticulous controls designed to take charge of a natural heritage and guide it, intact, from the source to the bottle.
Today, we take you behind the scenes of our plant to discover, step by step, how the water you drink every day is bottled.

From the source to the plant: an uncontaminated path
Acqua Fiuggi springs from the heart of the Ernici Mountains, in a natural setting that defines its identity and composition. It is a natural mineral water: this means it is born pure at the source, with its own specific and stable physical-chemical characteristics over time. By law, it cannot undergo purification treatments or alterations to its composition.
For this very reason, the extraction phase is conceived as a moment of protection, not transformation.
The water drawn from the wells is conveyed to the plant through stainless steel pipes. The choice of this material meets specific criteria: it is inert, corrosion-resistant, easily sanitizable, and does not release substances that could interfere with the water’s properties.
Just a few minutes pass between extraction and arrival at the bottling lines, the exact time needed to travel through the dedicated pipes. No corrective treatments or alterations occur during this journey. The water is bottled just as it springs, keeping its original characteristics completely intact.

Quality controls on Acqua Fiuggi
The protection of natural mineral water requires a rigorous and continuous control system. For Acqua Fiuggi, monitoring accompanies every phase of the process: from the extraction wells to the collection tanks, up to the bottling lines, where checks are performed on an hourly basis.
The monitored parameters are those required by current regulations and include, among others:
- Microbiological characteristics: to guarantee the total absence of contamination.
- Physical-chemical parameters: such as pH and conductivity.
- Mineral composition: to ensure the stability of the water's specific properties.
This allows us to constantly verify that the water maintains its original properties throughout the entire production path.
The bottling process of Acqua Fiuggi
Once the water reaches the plant, the actual bottling process begins: a sequence of steps designed to guide it into the bottle rapidly, in a controlled manner, and with full respect for its natural characteristics.

The flow unfolds through several specific phases:
1. Bottle preparation
The Everyday line is made with rPET bottles, obtained from recycled PET sourced from post-consumer bottles. It is decontaminated and made suitable for food contact through a bottle-to-bottle process. The preforms are transformed into the bottle's final shape via blow molding, then oriented and transported along the production line, ready to receive the water.
2. Controlled environment filling
The bottles reach the fillers, which operate in closed chambers with controlled air and overpressure. This configuration protects the most delicate phases of the process.
3. Capping and process controls
After filling, the bottles are sealed using capping systems designed for tethered caps, caps that remain attached to the bottle even after opening, promoting greater sustainability and making recycling easier.
This is followed by a series of automatic controls that verify the correct filling level and perfect sealing, ensuring uniformity and quality along the entire line.
4. Drying, labeling, and coding
The bottles are dried, labeled, and coded to guarantee full traceability and compliance.
5. Packaging and palletization
Finally, the bottles are packaged and organized on pallets, ready to begin their journey into distribution.
The entire process unfolds as a continuous and controlled line, capable of reaching a production capacity of up to 18,000 bottles per hour, all while maintaining a steadfast commitment to the quality and integrity of the water.

Innovation and sustainability in the new plant
In the new Acqua Fiuggi plant, innovation and sustainability go hand in hand. The integrated technologies allow for more efficient management of the production process, utilizing state-of-the-art machinery and remote control systems that monitor the lines continuously and precisely.
This focus on efficiency is also reflected in design choices geared toward sustainability. The facility integrates water recovery systems for the water used in production processes, aiming to reduce waste and maximize available resources. Alongside this is the installation of a photovoltaic system, which contributes to making the production site more energy-independent and decreasing its overall environmental impact.
Thanks to these choices, the entire bottling cycle has become a model of efficiency and sustainability. We combine the best technologies with a deep respect for nature, taking care of every single drop. And this is exactly how Acqua Fiuggi arrives at your table.
